Friends of Camp Sacramento is a non-profit membership organization that strengthens families, builds community, and connects people to nature through the experience of camping. Friends meets our mission by supporting a family camp that has operated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains by the City of Sacramento for 100 years.
Friends of Camp Sacramento keeps the cost of camp low and quality high by paying for large and small camp improvements. For example, we've built a playground, replaced cabin beds, and purchased games, craft supplies and fishing and archery equipment. In 2020, we completed a new deck overlooking the American River, supported the remodel of the Women's and Men's Main restrooms, installed new screens on cabins, and purchased cabinetry for the Dining Hall.
Friends of Camp Sacramento partners with Sacramento based non-profit organizations each year to send families to camp who otherwise could not afford the experience. In recent years, Camperships have been granted to families who have previously experienced homelessness and families who have adopted foster children.
Friends of Camp Sacramento is a membership organization that uses tax deductible dues to support camp improvements and camperships at Camp Sacramento. Memberships start at just $25 per family. Local businesses and organizations can become an honorary Friend through charitable donations.

Lodge Deck
Friends has built a new deck that overlooks the American River behind the lodge. It was dedicated in 2022 as the Culler Family Deck.
Playground
Few projects get as much use as the Friends playground. In 2018, Friends upgraded with a new playground.
Water Tower
You can think of us everything you brush your teeth or take a shower. Friends partnered with the city to replace aging water towers.
